Freezing stream along the Icefields Parkway; Banff National Park
Winter's grip on the area is growing ever stronger in early November. Regularly snow provides that famous sugar coating of the landscape, and the dropping temperatures cause rivers and streams to freeze over. The growing ice can form in so many ways in streaming water that no place looks the same. Here the droplets splashing on top of the rocks in the stream froze first and created the most wondrous mushroom shapes on the rocks while underneath the water still continues streaming as long as it can.
