Peyto Lake, Banff National Park

"Oh my, is that colour real?!?"

It's funny to hear so many people uttering those words when after a short hike they reach the platform looking out over Peyto Lake. The colour apparantly is so unbelievable that even when people see it right in front of them don't completely trust their eyes.

Peyto Lake is among the 'compulsory' stops along the Icefields Parkway through Banff National Park and is therefore one of the most often photographed lakes of Canada. The saturated turquoise water makes it a gem in a perfect setting and on the very same day that this photo was made, hundreds or even thousands more were made by other cameras. The photo is hardly unique therefore, but it is a unique place for certain!
