Black bear cub (Ursus americanus), Kootenay National Park, BC

This is the black bear (Ursus americanus) cub of the female that can be seen here and here. Seemingly lost in making its acquaintance with this tree and the twigs around it, it was unfortunately right next to quite a busy road through Kootenay National Park. Getting used to an environment like that makes this youngster quite a likely candidate to end up as roadkill. But we can hope...
