Roadkill Gray Jay (Pirosoreus canadensis)
It is frustrating to see so much wildlife being killed on the roads through the Rockies. Not only the large animals perish, but also many birds are hit by cars. Speed limits are hardly heeded, at the cost of a great loss of life. However, with the number of roads and especially the number of vehicles on them, no matter what speed limit you set, animals will be hit anyway. But if the rules would be more strict, at least it would be a bit safer for both animal and man (hitting a bird like this will not likely result in injury of the driver, but hitting something as large as an elk, bear or moose gives the driver not much chance of survival).
