White-crowned sparrow (Zonotrichia leucophrys) in Banff National Park

Working on this project all too often involves tough subjects like habitat loss and misunderstanding of natural systems. But then again, sometimes you just run into something that makes you smile. This white-crowned sparrow was very successful at that. It was flying around very actively, feeding on the pussy willows and making soft contented noises all the time. He was hard to photograph with all that moving about, but I did it with a constant smile on my face!
