Bighorn Sheep (Ovis canadensis) on a busy road, Jasper National Park. Project Canada.

A group of bighorn sheep probably licking salt on Highway 16 near Pocahontas, Jasper NP. They are a very funny sight for the tourists, but seeing huge trucks and many cars maneuvering around them (not to mention seeing the brake marks on the road) makes it quite obvious how dangerous the roads can be both for wildlife and for drivers and their passengers. The actions of animals in these situations are highly unpredictable and a small wrong move from either an animal or a driver can cause huge damage and even loss of lives.
